ABSTRACT
Plagiarism poses ethical concerns among students, yet its discussion and recognition in some educational settings remain insufficient. Identifying predictors of plagiarism can assist the academic nursing community in effectively addressing its occurrence. This research aimed to determine the factors influencing the intention to plagiarize among nursing students in a government-funded nursing school in the Philippines. Employing a descriptive, predictive cross-sectional research design, data were collected from 304 nursing students through valid and reliable survey instruments administered online in June 2021. Regression analysis conducted in SPSS 26 unveiled the predictors of plagiarism intention. Findings indicated a generally low intention to plagiarize among nursing students. Internet literary, attitude, moral obligation, past behavior, and subjective norm predicted nursing students’ intention to plagiarize. It is evident that various factors contribute to nursing students' propensity to plagiarize. Nursing programs should prioritize ethical education, discourage the unethical practice of plagiarism, and help students develop a strong internal ethical compass.
