ABSTRACT

It is widely accepted that intelligent individuals are more likely to succeed compared to academically challenged individuals. Knowledge is, without a doubt, a powerful tool. But interestingly, for long-term goals, it should be sealed with perseverance and passion, which is termed as grit, a non-cognitive trait. Hence, using descriptive-correlational design, the study investigated the influence between level of grit and academic performance among 89 Bachelor of Early Childhood Education first year and second year college students in a private college in Plaridel, Bulacan. The study revealed that generally, the respondents were very gritty with very good academic performance. Analysis showed that the respondents' grit level has a weak significant influence on academic performance. In order to establish an intervention plan, the study sought to understand how students' level of grit influenced their academic performance. The samples were taken using universal sampling. Meanwhile, the data were collected through standardized questionnaires. According to the results, as these characteristics influence one another, other variables to correlate should also be given importance. In light of the academic environment's ongoing evolution, the researchers strongly advise developing an institutional plan to direct, integrate, and advance students' health and wellbeing.
