July 16, 2026 | Positive Youth Development Session on Family Emergency Planning

Norzagaray College, in partnership with Food for the Hungry Philippines, successfully conducted Session 3 of the Seminar on Positive Youth Development (PYD), focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction: Family Emergency Plan and Basic Emergency Essentials Kit. The session brought together twenty-six (26) participants for a meaningful discussion on household safety, emergency preparedness, and family resilience.

The participants learned how to develop a practical Family Emergency Plan covering communication procedures, emergency contact numbers, safe meeting places, evacuation routes, household hazards, and the responsibilities of every family member.

The session also highlighted the importance of preparing a basic emergency essentials kit or “go-bag” containing drinking water, ready-to-eat food, medicines, first-aid supplies, flashlights, batteries, clothing, hygiene items, emergency money, identification cards, and copies of important family documents. Participants were reminded to prepare sufficient supplies for at least 72 hours and to regularly check and update the contents of their go-bags.

Through this partnership, Food for the Hungry Philippines and Norzagaray College continue to equip young people with practical knowledge and essential life skills that enable them to protect themselves, support their families, and contribute to safer and more resilient communities.

The activity reinforced four important actions in disaster preparedness: plan, prepare, protect, and work together.

Be prepared. Stay safe. Protect together.
